Legendary punk band Black Flag broke up in 1986. I was cool with it. They were a little played out when they ended. For some inexplicable reason, Black Flag leader Greg Ginn decided in 2013 that it was time to reunite the band. Unfortunately, he didn't invite pretty much anyone you might have remembered from the band's line-up.
There were a ton of different people who played in Black Flag during its run from 1978-1986. Ginn was the only constant. For the "reunion," Ginn asked one-time singer, Ron Reyes (79-81), and no one else. He filled out the line-up with folks who had never been in the band. Around the same time, a number of dudes who actually were in Black Flag at some point (Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, and Bill Stevenson) did their own reunion and called it Flag. Both toured in 2013. Fans liked Flag, they hated Black Flag. Due to the possible confusion between the two bands, Gregg Ginn sued.
That lawsuit has now been settled in Greg Ginn's favor. Ginn's version of the band (which no longer features Ron Reyes, by the way) retains ownership of the name and the logo. So, for 2014, Black Flag is Greg Ginn and some other dudes that no one has ever heard of.
